Dr. Matthew Hutchinson is a Sales Engineer at Planet, based in Washington DC, and is focused on support for the defense and intelligence market. He has been at Planet for a year and a half, and prior to this he worked as a geographer for two years in the US Government.
In Ohio he worked at the geospatial consulting firm Woolpert for eight years, originally as a software developer and then the role of Research Scientist. He assisted with algorithm development, client interaction, company strategy and special projects. This included leading the application process to the FAA which resulted in Woolpert becoming the first mapping & survey firm in the United States to receive permission to fly unmanned aircraft (drones) commercially.
Matthew was raised in Perth and is a graduate of Curtin University.
